A short note on pitching us.
- Read three issues first. The fastest way to know whether you're a fit is to spend an hour with the back catalogue. Our register is unhurried, first-person where it earns it, and almost never news-pegged.
- One pitch per email, 150–250 words. A working title, the angle in one sentence, two or three reporting notes, and one line on why you. Include two links to relevant published work.
- Expect quiet. We commission a small handful of essays each quarter. If we'd like to work with you, you'll hear within three weeks. If you don't hear back, the piece isn't for us this season — please pitch again.
Rates start at €0.40/word for first-time contributors, more for established writers and reported pieces. Full pitching and editorial conduct details live in our editorial standards.
Where the magazine is made.
Editorial offices, not public. For physical mail, address it to the relevant desk. Response time: typically one to two weeks; longer in August.
